Today is going to be an easy day, because all I’m gonna do is sit down with y’all and talk about chocolate. A little birdie told me that you love chocolate. And you know that I love chocolate, but I’m kinda picky about it. I’ve talked about American Heritage Chocolate before, it kind of has me spoiled against all other brands. It’s dark and rich and full of complex flavors that make it great for snacking on its own or using in baking.

All American Heritage Chocolate products are certified Kosher, made with all-natural ingredients and no preservatives. Their chocolate is fashioned from recipes from the 18th century and use a sprinkling of spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, orange, and red pepper.

Have you been waiting for a chance to try American Heritage Chocolate? It just got a whole lot easier since American Heritage Chocolate Bites are now available at a location near you: Cracker Barrel is carrying them!

4

American Heritage Chocolate Bites come in a keepsake muslin bag and are ideal for eating and sharing. You can totally just eat them right out of the little packages, but I’m a fiend for warm gooey chocolate and I wanted to see how these baked. So I came up with this super simple way to indulge.

It starts with delicious, flaky puff pastry and a little stick of chocolate. Roll it up and toss it in the oven.

What comes out is nothing short of delicious. The rich chocolate inside gets a little gooey and melty. Toss a little powdered sugar on top and the result is pure bliss!

I mean really, I don’t think there’s much more to say about this, so I’ll just let the photos do the talking:

Ingredients

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 sheet of Puff Pastry, thawed
  • 1 bag of American Heritage Chocolate Sticks
  • 1 tbsp. confectioners' sugar

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Unfold 1 pastry sheet on the work surface.  Roll the pastry sheet out until it's flat. Cut it into strips as long as the chocolate sticks (about 2 inches)
  3. Place one piece of chocolate at the end of the strip and then roll it up, sealing the corner by brushing it with the egg wash. If you want yours to have an edge like mine, simply cut the end of the strip at an angle.
  4. Bake for 12 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown.  Sprinkle with the confectioners’ sugar. Eat while they're still warm.
